Review the range of groups and individuals whose communication needs must be addressed in own job role. These are both internal and external to the company. I may communicate with them as a group, for example in a management meeting or individually.
I will also communicate with the care team. Again this could be in a group, for example handovers, de-briefs, planning meetings and care team meetings. This can also be individually, for example during personal support meetings, professional development meetings or for individual support and guidance.
I also communicate with the Learning Centre team on a regular basis. Again, this can be in a group, for example handovers or individually.
This may include learning meetings about a particular child. As a case co-ordinator, I will also have regular communication with the team around the child, which I am responsible for.
The team around the child includes, their personal tutor, link tutor and their learning mentor. This can also be in a group, such as learning meetings or individually.
I will also communicate with the young people that reside Use and develop systems that promote the home. This can be in a number of ways and again, both as a group or individually.
Internally, I will also communicate regularly with the support team. This includes the administration staff, the handyman, he IT technician and the cleaner. All of the above are internal people within the company, that as part of job role I will need to communicate with.
As part of my job role as Deputy Care Manager, I will need to communicate with external agencies. Some more frequently than others, however may include, social services and social workers, police, medical services doctors, dentist, opticians, hospitalcounsellors and therapists, Youth Offending workers and families.
Explain how to support effective communication within own job role. Within my current job role as Deputy Care manager I can support effective communication by ensuring that I use the correct method.
These will be dependant on the information I need to pass on and the person s receiving it. The methods I can use to support effective communication are detailed below: Verbal communication is one method I could use within my job role and this is where I communicate verbally to pass on messages, ideas, thoughts and feelings.
This is the main way in which I support communication and will do this through handovers, de-briefs, personal support and professional development meetings, management meetings and Child Looked After reviews.
Another method I could use is non-verbal communication. This is where I communicate without using words and includes my body language, facial expressions, touch or contact, signs, symbols, pictures, objects and other visual aids.
It is important that I am aware of my non-verbal communication skills as it can convey information that I may not wish to portray and may influence the relationship and message I am trying to convey.
Written communication is another method I often use within my current job role. Written communication includes emails, review reports, handovers, behaviour programmes, casework monitoring or any other relevant form of written communication relevant to my role. This can be a really effective way of communicating within my job role as I have time to think about what I am writing and the message in which I am trying to convey to ensure it is clear, concise and accurate.
In order to support effective communication it is important that I use the correct method in order to effectively deliver the message in which I am trying to pass on.
Effective communication means that I understand the needs of the individual that I meet them using these methods, ensuring that it is carried out appropriately and professionally.
Analyse the barriers and challenges to communication within own job role. Within my own job role there are a number of barriers and challenges to communication. This can be to both the young people that are in my care and also my work colleagues or outside agencies.
One barrier that is relevant to my job role is the psychological mind state of the young people we care for. This is mainly when trying to communicate with a young person that has this mental health issues or is angry, aggressive or upset.
This can impact their ability to communicate, receive and understand messages, and say how they are feeling.Outcome Explain how and why you should evaluate existing communication systems and practices Within my working environment I use various communication systems, for example verbal communication, in which I use correct tone, pitch and language to communicate my needs, to pass on information and knowledge, also during handover .
